Why us? The Husky Difference
Four Days, Endless Possibilities
At Highland, our innovative four-day school week gives students more than just time—it gives them opportunities. With focused, engaging learning Monday through Thursday, Huskies are energized to explore passions, gain real-world experiences, and build lasting connections that prepare them for life beyond the classroom.
Small School. Big Heart
At Highland, every student is known, valued, and supported. Our close-knit community means stronger relationships, personalized learning, and a culture where Huskies cheer each other on—inside the classroom and beyond. Here, it’s more than education—it’s family.
Want to become a Highland Husky?
Join a community where you’re more than just a student—you’re family. At Highland, you’ll find small-school connections, big opportunities, and a supportive pack ready to cheer you on every step of the way. Your Husky journey starts here!
Learning Beyond Our Walls
Through our incredible partnership with Kirkwood Community College’s Washington County Regional Center, every member of Highland’s Class of 2026 graduated with college credit. Students gain access to career academies, hands-on learning, and advanced coursework—giving every Husky a meaningful head start on college, career, and life.
Welcome Huskies!
Hello, current and future Huskies!
I'm Spencer Lueders, Superintendent of the Highland Community School District. It is an honor to serve the students, staff, families, and communities that make Highland such a special place to learn, grow, and call home.
At Highland, we are invested! We are invested in kids, ensuring every learner is seen, valued, challenged, and supported. We are invested in futures, preparing students for who they are becoming. We are invested in each other, building a culture of relationships, collaboration, and support. And we are invested in community, strengthening partnerships with families and taking pride in being Highland.
Our greatest strength is our people. Together, we are committed to creating meaningful opportunities, celebrating growth, and providing an educational experience that prepares every student for success.
I encourage you to explore our website and follow us on social media to stay connected with the many great things happening across our district.
Thank you for being part of the Highland family. I look forward to all we will accomplish together!
