Track Update: State Qualifiers & State Meet Information

The Highland Huskies competed at the state qualifying meet this Thursday, May 10th and will be sending several events on to the Iowa High School State Meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines next week. Emily Yahnke clenched two first place medals on Thursday in the long jump and the 100 meter dash earning her a top spot in those events at state. Aly Stokes also qualified in the long jump with a jump that put her in the top 24 jumpers in the state! Emily and Aly compete in long jump on Thursday, May 17th at 11:30AM. Emily runs in the 100 meter dash prelims at 12:50PM on Thursday as well. Sarah Schneider, Aly Stokes, Kristy Thomann, and Emily Yahnke also qualified with a top time in the 4x100 and 4x200. Come watch the quartet vie for a state title in those events on Friday, May 18th. The 4x200 runs at 10:50AM and the preliminary 4x100 runs at 12:40PM. On the boy’s side, Zack Lasek threw his way into the top 24 discus throwers in the state with a career best throw of 133-04. He will compete in the discus ring on Friday, May 18th at 11:30AM. Coach Strobel plans on Emily making the finals in the 100 meter dash and for the girls 4x100 to make the finals as well. Finals for those two events will take place on Saturday, May 19th. The 100 meter dash final is at 12:45PM and the 4x100 meter final is at 3:25PM. Hope to see some Huskie fans there!
